Certified Social Worker in Gerontology (CSW-G) since 2011
The certification requires a master's-level clinical expertise which entails 3000 hours of post-MSW clinical paid employment and 30 hours of post-degree continuing education in bio-psychological issues, interventions, or the dynamics of working with the aging and their families and caregivers. Documentation of a current social work license and advanced degree must be presented to enroll for certification. Adherence to the NASW Code of Ethics and Standards of for Continuing Professional Education is an expectation of all CSW-G-certified practitioners.

This licensure requires 3,000 hours of supervised advanced social work practice and either 15 academic contact hours or 20 continuing education contact hours in professional ethics. This supervised experience must occur over a minimum two-year and maximum four-year period after licensure as a Masters Social Worker. Experience that is supervised must include 100 hours of face-to-face meetings between the approved advanced supervisor and the supervisee.
